It has been a very busy summer. We have continued to deliver food parcels to those in need and once again our wonderful volunteers have been foremost in helping with this.
The Food Bank as a community centre is continuing to grow. Home-Start are now settled in and offering a range of services and activities for mothers and toddlers. There is also a music activity run by Fabula Art and the Talking Café every Wednesday. We are in discussion with Citizen Advice to start a monthly walk in for those needing help. Finally, we are starting a weekly warm space event with soup, a roll and conversation from Wednesday 4th November.
We had a very successful quiz night in Dulverton Town Hall and raised over £1200 which is a fantastic result. However, these events don’t happen without a lot of work and a special thank you must go Jackie, Arabella, Jane, Roz and Ian for all their work preparing the wonderful food and running the excellent raffle. Some of the money from this event will be used to buy new furniture for the centre.
I was delighted to go along to Cutcombe School for their harvest festival service and receive their food gifts for the Food Bank. The highlight was the school singing with great gusto and showing what the true meaning of this time of year is all about.
We are having a Halloween Spooktacular event at our community hub on Friday 30th November with best costume and spooky stories competitions.
Lastly, we are appealing to the local community to continue your amazing food donations, financial support and with Christmas coming up, donations of festive food and decorations would be very welcome.
